Here to help you reconnect with the natural world, slow down, and rediscover the wisdom of living in tune with the Earth through hands-on experiences

Why Rooted Living?

I believe that a connection to nature is essential—not just for our well-being, but for the fullness of our human experience. In a way that is both primal and grounding, nature regulates our nervous systems, reconnects us to our senses, and brings us back to our simplest forms of human existence. It reminds us to slow down and yet jolts us back into awakening, raw self awareness. It reminds us of how small we are, yet every living thing has an interconnected, crucial relationship to one another.

In a world that’s speeding up, becoming louder, more digital, and more disconnected, many of us feel something is missing—but can’t quite name it. Rooted Living Collective was created to help name it, and to offer an accessible way back to natural connection.

Through hands-on classes, storytelling, and guided experiences, I help people slow down, tune in, and reawaken their relationship with the earth. Whether it's through harvesting wild food, sitting in stillness, or learning foundational outdoor skills, each experience is designed to be immersive, personal, and grounded.

What makes Rooted Living different is the how and why. The why is in the name, to live authentically, connected, and curious. These classes aren’t lectures or checklists—they’re embodied experiences. I blend traditional ecological knowledge, mindfulness practices, and modern outdoor education in a way that meets you where you are, and invites you to intergrate it into your everyday life.

The Story Behind RLC

When I was 19, something radically came alive in me when I went to Alaska to study environmental science and education. The wilderness brought my senses alive and I was a sponge for it all - I was humbled by the visible scars of human impact, captivated by the tiny networks of life beneath my boots on the tundra, and profoundly moved by all I was learning simply by being & doing, and listening & observing what was happening around me.

In the midst of an everchanging and difficult time in my life, I found a deep knowing, the kind that doesn’t make sense, but it just is. Maybe you also have that feeling when something feels right. From that moment on, I knew my purpose was to share this feeling and be an advocate for nature.

I spent the next ten years in outdoor education, bridging traditional classroom learning with hands-on, real-world experiences. I led backcountry expeditions, taught students outside four walls, and continued learning from the land with each experience.

Rooted Living Collective was born from this passion. It exists to help others reconnect to the natural world through experiences, not just information. Whether it’s a class, a quiet afternoon spent observing the seasons shift, or a conversation that opens up a new way of seeing - the connection of nature has a personal book of learnings for each individual. Sometimes it is a call to just listen, to reevaluate values amidst a busy world, or just an afternoon dedicated to experiencing. Let’s connect & find out yours! I would be honored to be part of your path in rediscovering the abundent offerings nature has to offer.

Meet Sarah

BA in Education. Certified in Permaculture Design, Environmental & Conservation Education, American Wilderness Leadership, Wilderness First Responder, and founder of Rooted Living Collective.

My passion is helping people reconnect to the natural world through hands-on experiences, mindful reflection, and skill-building that feels both grounded and empowering.

I’ve spent the last decade teaching in outdoor classrooms, leading backcountry expeditions, and supporting people as they rediscover the joy, calm, and clarity that nature offers. I believe that the earth is always speaking—through birdsong, changing light, textures underfoot—and we just need to slow down enough to listen.

At Rooted Living Collective, I offer workshops, classes, and creative consultations that invite you to deepen your connection to the land, your senses, and your inner knowing. My approach blends storytelling, environmental education, and simple practices that bring you back into relationship with the world around you.

When I’m not teaching or wandering off-trail, you can find me living simply in my van, making a smoothie, or riding horses!
